A Stroll Through Palestine

Palestine is home to a mosaic of cultures and three of the world's great religions, Christianity, Islam and Judaism.Visitors to Palestine seeking to experience a unique and unforgettable journey through time can follow the paths of Jesus Christ, following his footsteps from birth to resurrection.

In Bethlehem they can visit the Grotto of Nativity where Jesus Christ was born and in the village of Beit Sahour they can see the Shepherds' Field where the angels announced the good news to the Shepherds. To the southeast lies the River Jordan where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. The scenic town of Jericho is home to the Mount of Temptation, where Jesus Christ spent 40 days fasting and meditating.

In the northern Palestine they may visit Nablus where they can visit the Church of Jacobs' Well, where Jesus met the Samaritan lady. Traveling to the south, visitors can go through the Palestinian villages and towns that Mary and Joseph traveled through on their way to Bethlehem coming from Nazareth.

Traveling south towards the coast of Palestine is Gaza, where excavated Byzantine churches dating back to the fourth and fifth century AD have recently been renovated. At the heart of Christianity is, of course, Jerusalem. It is the Arab quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem where Jesus Christ walked and distributes his massages of peace and love, where he spent the last days of his life on earth with his disciples, and where he was crucified, buried and resurrected to Heaven.

Also in the Arab quarter visitors can visit the magnificent Dome of the Rock and Mosque of Omar, tow of the Islam's holiest and most beautiful shrines that make the skyline of Jerusalem so unique and memorable. Some hundred meters east of the great Walled city of Jerusalem is the Church of Lazarus in Bethany, where Jesus raised Lazarus from death. Palestine is the Land of Jesus Christ and in addition to its richness of the biblical history, it also gives tourists the opportunity to explore its archeological, history and culture sites that dated back to the times of the Canaanites, the Byzantine and Crusader era as well as the extensive Islamic period and the colonial age.

It offers walks and hikes in its extensive valleys, villages, coastal areas as well as its desert hills and towns. It also offers great hospitality to those visitors who want to meet with local communities, Christians and Muslims alike, who will share with them the hopes and aspiration of a nation that is in the process of rebuilding. The Palestine Millennium plans are being coordinated through a special body set up by the Palestinian National Authority, namely the Bethlehem 2000 Project. From Christmas 1999 until Easter 2001, Palestine in general and Bethlehem in particularly will host many cultural and artistic events, which will include special church services, ecumenical processions, religious celebration and organized tours. Pilgrims can enjoy the services of the Palestinian Tour Operators, Hotels, Restaurants and Guides. At the same times, we invite visitors to travel to Palestine, the Holy Land, through our new Gaza International Airport in Gaza Strip.

To spend the turn of the millennium in the place where modern time began will be both unique and unforgettable for visitors. They will be able to experience much of the atmosphere that existed long ago when those other-famous visitors, followed the Star of Bethlehem almost 2000 years ago.

Come to Palestine and visit the source of the Millennium…
